The digital collectibles will feature the Huracán STO model of the iconic luxury sports car brand with different rarity attributes.
( NFT ) marketplace VeVe is partnering with Italian automaker Automobili Lamborghini to release digital collectibles of its iconic sports cars, the companies said Wednesday.
The NFTs, which are set to be listed on VeVe on February 19, will feature the Huracán STO model with a number of rare features. Once purchased, collectors can show off their NFTs in the app's virtual showrooms, share on VeVe social media streams, and use augmented reality (AR) to see and "drive" their car on real-world roads .
VeVe co-founder Dan Crothers told CoinDesk that he's excited to give Lamborghini fans a new way to experience their favorite car and hopes the collection will help sports car fanatics on the Web3.
"Owning, or even just driving, a Lamborghini is a dream for many," Crothers told CoinDesk. "The great thing about our community of passionate collectors is that they just love to collect, but we also hope that this will inspire car enthusiasts to move into the world of digital collectibles as well."
Lamborghini has been around before NFT “Epic Road Trip” and the company is not the only luxury car company to enter Web3. Last month, Porsche launched a series of NFTs featuring its flagship 911 model, which ran into roadblocks and received plenty of criticism from creators for the brand's seemingly "rushed" Web3 strategy. The German automaker listened to the community's feedback and covered its mint in response. Last year, the McClaren and Alfa Romeo also took their first spins with NFTs.
